DVD writing

just got myself an dvd- rw/r and since ive never had one b4 im struggleing to get to grips with it. I wanna make dvds to play in my dvd player but dont know where to start. I have films on my comp in AVI format and I guess these have to be converted? I have a converter to change it but what do i change it to? I also have dvd decrypter which someone advised me to use. And I have Nero 5 but once again i dont know where to start. any easy suggestions??

Lion7718 will become famous soon enough
the only way is to convert it to DVD, it takes about 6-10 hours to convert an AVI to DVD

you can also use a program called neodvd it will convert and burn the movies itself and allow you to do a lot of other things!

ive used winavi and converted a film to dvd. When i play the movie it seems to jump and freeze, does it mean that the disk i have a useless or shall i try and burn on a lower rate? I burnt it on x8, i was suggested that i put it on x4. I will get the hang of this one day. converting seems a right pain in the arse..

i usually burn my stuff and 2.4 or 1 to make sure i get good quality. And yes converting is a pain in the ASS, I actually went out and bought a DVD player that can play DIVX, AVI, MPEG and a lot of other formats and it was only $79 so in my opinion well worth it. Also i can get like 10 avi movies onto 1 normally DVD and just sit there and watch them all day without removing one disk.
