Windows not maximising, Which Browsers?

When I start internet explorer it opens up in a minimised window about 3cm long, How do I change the settings so that the windows open fully maximised?

I would also like to know if I should use IE as everyone else seems to be using different browsers e.g Mozilla. If I should change browsers, which would be the right one to choose?

chrisnoskill,

maybe you should try opening IE, increasing the size by draggin it bigger to the extremities of your screen and then closing it... now try opening again and it should have remembered the last size it was set at.. dont use the maximise button for that initially because it wont remember it next time you open IE.

As for different browsers, Everyone seems to be leaning towards Firefox as the preferred browser. It all depends really on what you fee comfortable with.. For instance i still use IE, but i have an addon called Maxthon which enhances IE to give me tabbed browsing, pop up blocking etc... this suits me fine. There are security issues with IE such as it can be made to redirect you to certain malicious sites etc, you know, all the things you hear about. These can be avoided by being careful about where u go.. besides, i find myself browsing a handfull of sites ergularly which pose no threat so im happy with IE.. some will tell you change immediately, but in the end its your choice..

i would suggest that if you are on the verge of swopping, trhy FireFox.. ihave it installed and as people say, the browsin IS much faster! i just cant get used to it thats why i find myself back with IE..

good luck

KF

Generix is on a distinguished road
Hello chrisnoskill,
First of all, there is a registry entry that you can delete that will reset IE's window position to the default. See here. With the browsers, I highly prefer Opera to Firefox. I have never once had Opera crash in three years of use...which is quite impressive! I would say until firefox becomes a stable version, try Opera. It pretty much looks like both require a breaking in period (as good browsers should). One this for sure is that you can customize Opera's gui more than any extension will allow you to do, creating a "smoother, more flowing" experience. I have read this and found that it is mostly unbiased and worth reading. Pretty much I guess it's all personal preference (and damn do I hate those "FiReFoX r0XXXX0rZ oPErA!!!!1111 LOLLLZZ!!!111" dumbasses). I'm not saying that FireFox isn't a superb browser deserving applause (because it certainly is)...I just prefer Opera. Anything is better than IE

Edit: Just looking around a bit and pulled this quote directly off of a forum:

firefox is teh faster and jsut rules all!
