to or not to specify font sizes

Now this is really serious. There are some who say that a font size of 10 to 12 points would be good, some others who say that font sizes should be specified in percentage of 80 to 90% and some others who are against specifying font sizes. I wonder which one would be correct on the web usability point of view. Any help?

NUTNDUN is on a distinguished road
For proper website design fonts shouldn't be a fixed size, only reason being is so people can enlarge the font sizes ie: ctrl + scroll wheel, so basically for accessibility. Fixed font sizes have their benefit as well since everything will always be the same size and display how you want it.

greffov will become famous soon enough
fixed sizes (points, picas, etc) differ on each platform. By using CSS styles as 'larger', 'smaller', or percentages you use sizes which are related to the default font-size that the user of the browser is accustomed to.
