Anyone know how to get rid of items in the tools menu? there are some links to xxx content and my kids can easily access them from the menu.

fireydeviant is on a distinguished road
try a spyware scanner (adaware/spybot) they ussually eliminate these. if not, search for the registry entrys, and/or a folder in your program files. these folders can reside elsewhere so do a general search, for either xxx, or they tool bar name.

Done IT

cheers whoever tried to help! I looked for ages in the reg for something remotely linked to the content but no luck. I finally went to tools and clicked on the obscene page and found an uninstall button right at the bottom of the page which was cleverly hidden. Clicked on uninstall and the item was removed from my tools menu.
I cant believe it was that simple, never mind trial and error. cheers

A round about solution you might give a try.....

A nice little utility called: "HiJackThis 1.98.2"

It is primarily made as a general homepage hijackers detector and remover. However, it provides the user with alot of other useful information in its scans. One being, it identifys the Registry keys of add-ons to IE's toolbars.........

Hope this helps .
