Web Design Program!
I am trying to figure out for the misses what a good web design program is. She is going to be developing some web pages and knows HTML but would like something a little faster then coding all that herself. I have heard a lot about Dreamweaver and some other programs, do any of you have any input on the best software available today?

There's a wide range here I'm sure. I'm no html expert, so usually I use dreamweaver to start off with then tweak some of the code after. Some say the code is all messy using this, but it gets the page done for me
I like the tool layout of this app and it wasn't too tough to figure out for me

plain old editor with syntax higlighting
![]() I used DreamWeaver and Adobe's GoLive in the past, both terrible resource hogs, and a hell when it comes to table alignment... but hey, that's forbidden in XHTML 1.0 ;-)

I definately recommend Dreamweaver. I don't think any other app has more features or power. I normally just use it for syntax highlighting as greffov suggested
. The only draw back I have found with it is that it doesn't show the contents of an inline frame in the edit mode

OK my wifes question is when you want to make a link that when you mouse over it it changes color ie black to yellow. She cannot seem to be able to change the color of just one they all have to be the same color I think it is something in the script page but does anyone know how to change this?

gee, i forget the tag line. and i don't know Dreamweaver, but typically in editors there should be an option for setting your font colors and there somewhere should be an option to choose link color.

ah, then just look for the tag line (in the script)... change the color entry where you want to customize.

im postign a bit late here but i am a bit of a noob when it comes to html but i have used both Dreamweaver and Front page and i would like to say firstly they are a pain in tha ass
BUT. if you are not going to code yourself and are a bit of a pro Dreamweaver is more for professianals but i like the simplicity of frontpage, so i will often use both in conjunction to ge tthe best out of both just my two cents but if you can only have one get DeamWeaver |
