Unhappy Can't Get Coldfusion To Work Properly

I'm trying to understand coldfusion, but i'm not doing a
really good job i guess. I use macromedia dreamweaver mx (and fireworks etc.) and wanted to make my websites dynamic. So i chose to use coldfusion mx with iis. I downloaded and installed them both, but i can't get it to work.

My coldfusion help file doesnt work, so i can't use that. And dreamweaver is not very specific about coldfusion. I've tried a couple of things but i just don't really know what i'm doing wrong so it's just a waste of time.

The problem is with the tesing server's url prefix, can anybody help me with it>?

I don't understand much from web development but why don't you try to add dynamic content by the use of PHP. As far as I 've heard Dreamewaver integrated wonderfuly with PHP. And ColdFusion is not the best preffered thing to add dynamic content. However I said I don't understand much so I may be wrong.

because i've heard coldfusion is the most user-friendly....
i don't really know if it is, because i haven't got any experience with PHP. But i'll assume that if i can't even get this to work , i can't do PHP either

ive read many tings and can tell you cold fusion is, other than being expensive ussually, it has a steep learning curve, like technobeast said php/mysql is what you should do, php is very easy too learn, using if than statments and ive hearn its similar to other programing launguages. and its free

I've been doing web development for years, mostly with perl, and lately with php... I just started a job for a client where they wanted everything done with ColdFusion (their old stuff was all CF, and they didn't want to change ~ the client is ALWAYS right), so I looked through the tutorial that gets installed with it and learned it (everything I would need to know) in a few hours. I would say "steep learning curve" is false. It's childs play compared to perl.

The tag line for this thread is great.

So far, in spite of hundreds of millions of dollars in research - no one can get cold fusion to work properly
