Exclamation Geforce 4 crashed my computer

I have a compaq presario running me. 700mhz with 448mb of ram. I was removing my original agp video card to replace it with the mx 420 card when the end of the agp socket broke off. It didn't look like the gold connectors were damaged, but niether card would work. I exchanged the card for a pci card and after installing the drivers my computer would lock up. after talking to pny tech. support they told me that nvidia has not had a geforce4 pci card work with less than 5 pci slots. I have 3. They suggested installing xp and using the xp drivers to run my video, but I don't have any 3d, none of my games work either. Is there any pci video cards that can work in my aplication that are 3d. Is there some way to test my agp socket to see if it is good or not?

Please help

If you ever hear a "snap" when inserting any card into your motherboard that is a very bad thing I woulndnt even bother trying to make that slot work if you actually saw something break off.

Yes you can buy PCI versions of just about any Video card out there. Try CompUSA they usually keep alot of PCI cards in stock.

And ouch bud
