Hi and welcome to PCTT
Does it get hot during the tests? It should have some kind of temp monitoring for the GPU. Some NVidia drivers had problems with this (the temp. bug). What if you try and change the drivers (66.93 probably). Touch the back of the core of the card... can you hold your finger for more than 10 seconds? I cannot think of anything else... p.s. What's the brand and model of the PSU? |

Thank you for the welcome,
Currently CPU temp is 32 degree C and system temp is 33 degrees. Graphic card has it’s own fan (and power connection) is operating. Bio setting for power to AGP card is 1.5 volt. Mobo support AGP 3.0 As for the Brand and model of PSU.. I have to check. I have checked with driver (version 6.6.93) before I installed the new driver (version 7.1.8.9). I used utility (detonatorRip) to remove all the previous driver installation before the new driver was installed… |

It's pretty much instant, I download some OpenGL demo (just to see if there is any hardware issue with my mobo for play 3d) and demo works.
Unplugged all other devices that drink power (ie CDR, CDROM) and put the graphic card power on a dedicated power line (just to make sure there is no power issue)…. Still the same problem. Put everything back to original state. When I re-run dxdiag and disable the "AGP texture accelerator" and re-run the direct3d test, the silly test worked !! but when I re-enable this, the system crashed once again. Thought it might be directX issue…. Uninstalled directx 9.0c (via some utility) it seems to have worked and reinstalled directX9.0b Re-run the test same result, with "AGP texture accelerator" on, system crash, without it the test passed. Still can not play any games with directX (ie Rome –total war etc) Looks like I might have to re-install window XP….don’t REALLY want to do it… any suggestions ? |

So OpenGL Games work right (Doom, UT I think can use OpenGL)? And this is only a DirectX issue? Why don't you try to get the card to a friends PC and see if DX works there - this might save you from reinstalling if the card fails to load the same games there.
Good luck |

Yes openGL seems to be OK (at least some demo works), doom3 I believe need directx 9.0 (or above).
Currently I am not sure if this is hardware related or software. Agreed, I will have to test this card in another PC. thanks |
