Question XP won't detect new hardware

Been trying for several days to get XP to detect a new multimedia video controller. Get started on the installation .. it says the driver is installed .. reboot and try the second part of the software installation for the program .. and bam!! , I get an error message "can't find device or device is not properly installed".

I check out device manager and there it is, but no drivers are installed.

Can anyone please help me.

Thanks

LPDad is on a distinguished road
Is this a VIDEO Card, or an add-on capture card (or something else??).

Try putting the addon into a different slot and make sure it completely SNAPS in. When the cards are seated improperly they may still show up, but not function properly.

Putting it in a different slot will help address any hardware conflicts. (course you cannot do this for an AGP card.

Untinstall ANY/All references to the card you are installing in the device manager before you try switching slots.

->device manager-> uninstall device-> turn off puter,

Move device, then restart computer and try again.
