Yup that card is great m8. Just make sure your motherboard has an AGP slot first... you dont want PCI if you can avoid it.
And remember that before you put the card in.. you need to go to your device manager in Windows and disable the savage video card.. then shut down.. put the new card in and boot again.

The GeForce FX5200 is the low-end. It's not bad, but you won't be able to push it (forget high res, high details or filtering). If you want something better you mey want to try the FX 5200 Ultra which is the same card but faster. From here you can go to FX 5700, FX 5700 Ultra...

Or you could just go for an ATI card instead of an nvidia one. I don't know how much money you are willing to spend but if let's say 120$ is with your possibilities then I would recomend a ATI Radeon 9600SE (which I think is with that price tag...)

I wouldn't go to ATI unless you are prepared to try different drivers and sort some problems in some games... The latest Catalyst 3.10 has improved compatibility, but there are still important issues.
I have an ATI 9600 Pro, and its performance is excellent, great picture quality, excellent AA & AF, so much better than most nVidia cards. However I had problems with some games, and I'm not the only one (just look in Rage3D forums) . Too bad, I may get a nVidia 5900XT, depends on the next driver; if it fixes the problems that I have, I'll keep it.nVidia drivers won't always give you the best picture quality, what's more, sometimes they use tricks to render faster (like half precision, incorrect lighting, not rendering parts...) but they aren't troublesome. Seldom does people get crashes with them. |

I didn't know ATI had compatability problems... about 90% of every graphics card review I've read in the recent past favor ATI instead of Nvidia so that's why I recomended ATI.
ATI dx9 support is supposed to be better than Nvidia's one right? |
