GeForce Card
Hi there , I've a problem with a Tv Out Card that I've just recieved off E-Bay Germany. I installed it in an AGP slot and powered up but my monitor refuses to come on, even if I try to turn it on manually, what, if anything, am I doing wrong?
My details....Athlon XP 2400 1Gig DDR Ram 120 Hdd...O/S XP Pro and ME (on partitions).....Card...64mb DDR GeForce 2 titanium VX MSI 8836 . I also had a Maxi Tv Video 3 Card which I have removed, but it is still the same. Any help appreciated in simple terms please as I am brand new to all this computer lark.Cheers H. have you used this card for a direct replacement of your existing agp card or are you replacing a PCI graphics card (if this is the case you may need to change some settings in the bios in order for it to be picked up.
other than that check the card is properly seated in the agp slot and make sure all cables are firmly connected. as you bought the card second hand, it could just be a dead card, fingers crossed it isnt, but unfortunatly there are a lot of people using e-bay to get rid of worthless junk.

if your currently using the pci card for the display, you need to take out the agp card, go into your bios and into the advanced options. remove the drivers for the existing card in both your operating systems before doing this to avoid conflicts. (windows will use the generic drivers when you boot up again).
your looking for the setting for 'primary vga output' (or similar - let us know the type of motherboard you are using and i should be able to give you more detailed instructions) this should be set to 'AGP' . now reboot the pc again (after saving the changes to your bios). take out the pci graphics card, put the agp card back in and turn on your pc, it should now boot and use the agp card without a problem (hopefully) before going ahead with this i would advise you to have a good read of your motherboard manual, as you may need to reset the bios to default if you have problems. (in order to get the pci card to work again) i would only advise attempting this if you have another pc that can access the net, as if you get stuck it may be your only way of getting the infomation you need to sort it out again.

GeForce card
my Motherboard is a K7 Triton GA-7VKML with a VIA KM266 chipset...the drivers that came with it included a VIA 4 in 1 driver service pack which is AGP 3.0 supported, I do hope that you can help.

ok, i found the mobo manual for your board Here , thats the first place to look for clues on the settings you need for your bios, to view the manual you will need adobe acrobat reader as its in pdf format. the secion of the bios you need is PNP/PCI Configuration, ive reproduced a page from the manual for you for reference, the page of the manual the bios section starts on is page 31 (page 35 of the pdf version)
