I Having Problems With Gaming
When I want to play games, 3 minutes after i start the game it crashes. Sometimes i can hear sound and no picture and sometimes it goes to the desktop. I got a geforce 4 440 MX vid Card. i took that out and switch to the onboard video card. Still The Games Crashes.
![]() Ive Have the 2000/XP Nvidia Drives CD and ive installed them. I think something is stopping the video cards from working properly. Is It Possible for this problem to be caused by the motherboard? and one thing, my bro has play Return To Castle Wolfestein and you dont need the cd to play it at all and that game doesnt Crash At All. Here are My Computer Specs Compaq Presario 5300 5311AP 1.2Ghz Intel Celeron Unknown Model Motherboard 256MB SDRAM Nvidia Eagle Geforce 4 MX 440 Video Card 80 GB Seagate Barracuda 7200rpm HDD 20GB Seagate HDD 5400rpm onboard sound and video Lite-ON 16x10x40 CD/RW MSI 16x DVD-ROM floppy drive Network Card Dial up modem ( not in use) ADSL Internet Connection OS: Windows XP Professional Build 2600 (SP1a) I need this problem fixed ASAP. if your brother can -play the game without the cd in the drive, you may want to try changing your cd drive, it may then work.
You could also try downloading No CD patched from such places as www.gamecopyworld.com .. Also there could be a bad setup between your RAM and the computer, it most cases its this that stops apps from running, this point can be verified if your comouter crashes regularly. Also Youve got a Dial Up modem installed, try pulling that out and trying your games. lol .. silly suggestion but theres no point having it in there if you dont plan on using it. btw.. did you know compaq will soon be no more.. HP (the new owners) are dedicated to ALL their sub brands carrying the HP logo! hope some of that was usefull

What game Keeps crashing?
Do you actually get in and are well into playing when it crashes?? Install the latest drivers from your vid card (make sure you completely uninstall the previous ones...I suggest using Detanator destroyer to get rid of all the leftovers. There are so many things that could be causing this that it is very hard to know where to look without more information. Game? Latest Patch? Cound easily be a memory problem. or you have some of the game setting incorrectly set. You should disable the onvid card if you are going to use your added card. It could also be a soundcard/sound drivers problem...especially if the same thing happens in the same place. Memory leak?? (turn off everything you are not using) Have you checked out the games forums to see if others are having similar problems with the same game. Need more info.

the games that crash are worms world party and mafia as far as i know i got more games but havent been installed. this has only been happening recently and only has been happening after i REBOOTED my computer.
LPDad, Mafia will play for 5 - 10 mins but WWP will play for only for about say 5 mins i will try those things that you suggested to me. The BIOS for my computer is a piece of junk. NOT many features. my computer is 1 1/2 years old. UPDATE: patched WWP and working but colour craps out sometimes. but will test the game more. Last edited by Ph33r Viper; 07-23-2003 at 08:40 AM. |

Take a look at the Event View for any error that is logged there, look in Applications and System. If you see some error related to the game or some driver, come back here so we can try to help.

Curiously enough.. I would want to know if the game ever ran properly since installation? Or has it never worked?
If it has worked previously.. from thta time until now .. what havey ou installed or removed from your PC?

Which Detonator driver do you use? I suggest you to use the old but trusty 30.82. If this corrects the problem, then update to 41.09, and if problem is still gone you may want to use 44.03, although I prefer 41.09 for GeForce 4 cards and older (the 44.03 has some artifacts that leaked versions correct, and they also include some cheats, the leaked 44.67 is better.)
Check that the driver is completely uninstalled before going to 30.82. BTW, you can get those drivers at Guru3D. |
