What is MOD?
MOD is a video file format used on many digital camcorders, it can't be recognized or played by most of the video palyer but the camcorders themselves.

Part 1: How to convert .mod files to .avi .mp4 .wmv .mov or .mpg


Q: "I recently purchased a JVC camcorder that records video as .MOD files. I can't seem to edit the files or play them on my PC. Is there a way to convert .mod files to .avi .mpg or something that works on my computer?"

NOTE: Many people ask how to convert Windows Movie Maker file (*.MSWMM) to other video format, while actually .MSWMM file is not a video format. It is a temporary project file of Movie Maker (more like a record file). Just open this file in Windows Movie Maker and save it to your computer --- Go to Movie Tasks bar > Finish Movie > Save to my computer. Then you will have a WMV file.


Part 3: How to convert .mod to DVD and burn .mod files to DVD disk

If you only want to make a digital copy of the camcorder .mod records on DVD disk for reserve or computer use, converting .mod to .avi or .mp4 and writing them on a blank DVD disk with DVD burner is enough.
