Cooling programme?

Is there any programme that i can download to control the speed of the fans on my CPU, power supply n graphic card? My PC is running on AMD Athlon XP 2800 Barton which emits a lot of heat, 53 degree celcious. The heat can go up to 64 - 65 degree when i am playing 3D games. Is my PC too hot?

By the way, i do not want to spend any money buying a heatsink cos i just spend $700 building this new PC.

Please help. =)

Well... what kind of motherboard do you have? And do you have a controller? What case did you purchase? How many case fans do you have?

Even though you dont "want" to spend money on a heatsink/fan.. you really should. AMD's run hot.. and you can get a really nice heatsink/fan combo for 20 dollars. Check out www.jab-tech.com. Sine you are a member here you get a 10% discount.

PM me if you want details on how to do that.

But you can use a controller to handle your fans.. and help keep your PC cooler.

My motherboard is ASUS A7N8X-Deluxe. I have two fans on my casing, one behind and the other one in front. How do i control my fans by using a controller?

Your motherboard will control the fan speed of your CPU fan and others. It explains it all in the user manual. You have to turn the capability on in the Bios, and have the fans hooked up to the proper connectors. I am running the same thing except I have a 3000 Barton. Same motherboard. I don't have heat problems, but I have alot of case fans(too many). In the Bios you have to go to the Hardware Monitor section and turn on the Q-Fan control. It is set to disabled by default. You then have to set the fan speed ratio, and the speed up/ speed down response time. If you have any more problems, just ask.

Average temperature for an AMD I think is somewhere near 43 Celcius. 50 is a bit high.. but not horrible. Oh and dont worry about sounding like a newbie.. you definately are not one if you built a PC. Besides.. we all had the same questions at one point in time too. So please feel free to ask anything Nimbus

And thanks vern.. I didnt even think about the BIOS options.. ho ho ho .. I was all ready to pump up fan controllers Figgers.

Well, i actually set my CPU fan to spin in full speed. It actually help to cool down a bit. The temperature never goes past 53 degree celcius ever since. Will there be any adverse effect on my CPU fan in long term? I am using the fan provided by AMD (the CPU fan that comes with the processor when i bought it).

Well there is always a chance of a fan wearing out after a time.. but you have some time before that becomes a concern. Just keep it as a mental note in the back of your mindthat you will need to replace that at some point.

And before you do install the new one.. make sure you come back for some tips on that. Just in case you arent positive on the proper way of doing so. I know i have had my share of mistakes that I "knew" better.. but didnt do and cracked my mobo an chip.. lol See... when you are drinking dont try putting the heatsink on your CPU. I put it on backwards. Sure it ran.. but it didnt keep my chip very cool. In fact my barton chip ran at about 70 celcius for about 40 minutes before I realized what was wrong. But it lasted.. which is really awesome. A palamino or thunderbird AMD core would have fried.. but the barton is nice. ho ho ho

Good to see ya posting again nonetheless nimbus

Is that the tempature when you are running a game or something else equally taxing on the CPU?

52 is not bad at all. Do you have an aluminum case? or a metal one?

I don't know what the deal is with my case, or heatsink, or whatever, but I never run more than like 38 degrees with the stock AMD heatsink and heatsink fan. And thats working my CPU. Anyway, your welcome. Anytime I can help, which is rare enough, I am more than happy to lend a hand, or a brain as it were.

Nimbus if you believe you have a problem with your fan speed you can adjust this in your BIOS. First, you have to enter your BIOS by pressing the Delete key. (Bet you already knew that) Then, go to Hardware Monitor Tab. Enable Q-Fan Control it is Disabled as default. Go to Fan Speed Ratio and set the Full Speed. Finally go to Speed Up/Down Response Time and set it to 1 Sec/2 Sec. And you are done with that so save your changed settings. If you are already did this I am sorry that it didn't help.

I am not really worried with your temperatures but I would be cautious. You said that your CPU temp 53°C when Idle? With the system I have my CPU runs around 56°C on a hot summer day and house gets hot! If anyone has a CPU that is running 60°C or higher when Idle you should look for ways to cool it down. Perhaps the heatsink was not properly installed and you should try reinstalling it. The retail stock heatsinks are designed for you CPU and you do not need to purchase a new one unless you are planning to overclock. If that doesn't help, you might want to change your case fan arrangement.

For anyone else that has problem CPU temperature I have also posted a chart that list Athlon XP's and maximum temperature.

Thumbs up The expecting Warhammer

The expecting Warhammer online gongce is coming. Tens of thousands of MMORPG players wanna a try. At the same time, each game studio and website wants to make a big profit. Warhammer online cd key is on hot sell. Warhammer online gold is even preselling weeks before September 18, 2008. And war power leveling? Not one less. Although warhammer power leveling serves the players and make money for the game product company, game studios and websites, which is the same as war cd key and gold, it is the headache of game product company, game studios and websites. Why and why not? All of them need, yet they are not standing on the same line. Game studios and websites wanna the profit. For them, the number of power leveling users, the more, the better. While for the game product company, they wanna war leveling to flourish their game but do not wanna it to disturb even destroy the balance of the game itself. Game studios are suffering force-out. And some websites are suffering force-out too. Safe war leveling websites are in need now. There are still many websites which provide safe Warhammer leveling. Friends, do not miss WoW Power Leveling | WOW Powerleveling | Warhammer Online Power Leveling | World Of Warcraft Power Leveling | Honor Power Leveling --YOYO GameStore. It provides the best service.---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Please keep an eye on Warhammer leveling!!!We have free Warhammer Gold and cheap RS Gold.LWB
