Silent PSU's
Hey guys,
Any1 got any input on silent PSU's ive heard good and bad things myself... Is it true that some of them are only silent as they work on temperature, turning themselves on and off as needs be? If so this greatly worries me for a power supply - dont really want it interupted frequenty! I'd like 1 but price and the bad things ive heard about them are restraining me a bit. Any1 convince me otherwise?

Look back through these forums-- there has been a lot of discussion on different kinds/sizes of PSUs over the last 8 months or so...also we have done several reviews-- look on the review page.

I scored a nice Cheiftec 420watt with dual fans really nice and almost silent. has pleniy of leads for all your accesories and supports amd and intels P4. It also runs really cool to be puttin gout 420, I really like it....
............................... But my case fan is something else completly, it sounds like I put a helicopter in my case. Oh well it is a cheapy fan, just needed it to make sure I got plenty of ventilation.

One thing to always look for when buying a silent PSU is the reviews that have been done on them.
Most reviewers will have done a voltage check on each line while running the PSU's. Some silent PSUs don't hold a steady voltage within 'acceptable' limits and can cause crashing etc etc. So make sure you check those graphs. |
