A DVI card or a VAGE to DVI adapter

Hi,
I'm running an XP Pro (SP2) IBM ThinkCenter M55e computer. My screen (SyncMaster 940bw) accepts a DVI input, but my computer doesn't have any. I plan a connection between my computer and my 42'' LG tv, which should, preferrably be an HTMI connection (using a DVI outlet).
So, I'm in the market for a DVI solution.
An MS document (http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/m...up/cables.mspx) describes the difference between VGA and DVI in the following terms:

"VGA separates the signal for red, green, and blue to transmit high-resolution images. VGA cables are a standard connection providing high-quality video from a PC to a monitor (or TV). "

"DVI transmits the digital signal in its raw form. DVI cables provide one of the highest quality connections".

I wonder what's the best solution, a new card or a VGA-DVI adapter? Will both do the same, or will the card allow much better results? (I'm afraid that that adapter won't be able to take the seperated signals of VGA and recompose it to a raw signal)

One way or another, which brand would you recomment?
