cutting video into several part

I wanna cut my dvd movie into several small files so i can burn it onto a 700MB CD-R. Can anyone please tell me how can i do that. thank you very much.

ummm...what happen if i don't wanna wait for hours to convert avi into divx. i can always use a programme to cut the movie into 2 avi files, right? What programme is good for this?

Try VirtualDub - ~HERE~ is a good article on how to split an .avi into multiple parts with Virtual Dub
