IBM Monitor Fix
I have been getting this error lately....
my monitor display goes black except for a big blue rectangle in the middle of the screen and the words FREQUENCY OUT OF RANGE . I have gotten it in the past and just rebooted and that fixed it. But I got this like 3 times last night! If i can recall clearly it never happened before i upgraded from Win ME to WIN 2k Pro. So i asked Dreamcaster and he suggested to check the monitor drivers compatibility with Win2k Pro. I checked my Win2k Pro cd for the list of compaitable hardware - i looked a file called hcl.txt and wouldn't ya know it, My monitor isn't on the list. I went to IBM's site in search of a driver or whatever... Here is what i found: http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/si...cid=MIGR-41024 But duh! There are no insturctions! I downloaded the driver but now what? Any suggestions? Also.... My monitor is a IBM E54 CRT Color Monitor My graphics adapter is a 'Plug and Play Monitor on Intel(R) 82810E Graphics Controler' (whatever that means! I found it under Contro Panel> Display>Advanced... <shurg>) I am using the following settings: 1024 x768 px Resolution 70mhz refresh rate High Color 16 bit Do you think the problem is that I need a different refresh rate? thanks guys!

OK first did you install the driver or you need help with it? If so:
Control Panel->System->Navigate to device manager. Find the monitor right click on it-> Properties. Then select the Driver tab. Click on update driver. Choose the advanced option to "Choose from specific location" find the inf file and Next, Next, Next. Probably restart at the end. Should do OK As for the refresh rate )))) hehe 70MHz is way too much for the refresh rate you can set. 70Hz should be OK. But this is a good monitor and I think it should run OK at 85 or at least 75 Hz. Try if the focus stays clear at these rates. If you have problems revert back to 70. But usually the more means the better (excluding cases when more Hz means bad focus and eye problems caused not from the blinking of the minotor but from overstraining too much to correct the focus)Hope I helped to some extent.
