audio connectors to the sound card

is anyone able to tell me what to connect my front audio inputs to my sound blaster live 5.1

Hiya,

If i understand this right, your front panel should have female Jacks on them on the inside of the case and on the outside.

in this case you will need to buy a couple of male-to-male jacks

to plug your front panel to get it to work. You will however be trailing the wires from the back, outside of the case, straight back into the case and into the front panel.

now for the bad bits!

almost always with this type of connection, you loose the rear panel since now you have all your connections relocated to the front!

There is a workaround for this! Get yourself a headphone splitter. this is a small 'thing' which has one male headphone jack at one end and two female jacks at the other. You plug the male jack into the headphone socket and are now able to plug another out source into the new spare socket.


another problem you need to watch out for.
Alot of the cheaper headphone splitters will only split the channels giving you a split left and right output, YOU DONT WANT THIS TYPE. be sure to insist you are supplied with a STEREO splitter so that you have stereo output in both.

and one last problem.
with almost all splitters, you introduce an element of noise into your outputs so almost all your sounds will sounds crackly if you listen closely. You can buy expensive equipment to compensate this but for a small home setup, its hardly worth it.
