What sound card do you use?

I am curious to see what everyoen here uses as a sound card. Personally I have only purchased one sound card ever.. it is a PCI 512 Sound Blaster Card.. and It works like a charm for everything I do.. and I have had it for almost 3 years now.

What is in your PC? What do you find reliable? Is there a reason I should look into a new one? Any advantage in computer gaming or MP3 quality?

I have a Soundblaster Audigy OEM card. It's the same as the Audigy Xgamer and Mp3 versions except it did't include any of the extra software. I've had it over a year now and it still works like a dream.

I am also running a Hercules Maxi Sound Muse in a secondary machine. IMO it has a better sound quaility than any of the low end SB cards.

I use a SB Audigy (Bulk). I guess these late "high-tech" sound cards only interst 2 kinds of people (well 3).

Some want it because of computer games/multimedia, 3D sound EAX effects and stuff can make the user experience... well more realistic.

Others want some high level sound card when dealing with music and sound all the time (musicians, sound engineers? etc.)

Finally there are those that want the lastest in sound cards because well they have money to spend and having the lastest in computer tech is always a goo way to spend it (since PC tech is constantly changing spending money on PC hardware is a garanteed money exaustion source...)

Personnaly I like the 3d sound when playing ... it gives ambience... but I don't see the diference say.. between SB Live 5.1 and Audigy 2.

I have a sound blaster audigy gamer.... Its a sweet card but a sound card is only as good as your speakers.

Mine is a Soundblaster Audigy 2! I can testify that this thing ROCKS in terms of sound! It is a HUGE leap from the previous soundblasters!

so true, why spend a few hundred on an audiology platnum if your using dime store speakers.

I had a SB Live 5.1, (still got it) I didn't like it much.

I got a Turtle Beach Santa Cruz, I love it. I can't really put my finger on why. It seems like sound quality is in the ear of the beholder. There was just something about the SB I didn't like. The Santa Cruz was cheaper and still, to my ear, sounds much better.

SoundMax Intergrated Digital Audio
MPU 401 Compatible Mini Device

It seems to be fine w. my pc speakers & the subwoofer, but w. my new headphones (plantronics audio 60 stereo headset) i can barley hear music even if i turn way up. Strange. ~

What sayeth all about:

eVGA.com e-GeForce4 MX 440 SE 64MB SDRAM PCI Graphics Card — 064P1NV62A
PCI interface; 64MB SDRAM memory - $79 priced

IMHO, It seems to price well ..
