I completely agree. I bought a Santa Cruz card to replace my SBlive Value cuz I needed 5 channels. The difference is night and day!! Even in 2 channel stereo. The sound is just a lot 'brighter' with a larger soundstage. Suddenly I didn't need to use any fancypants dsp effects to make my mp3s sound good. ![]() |

I use SoundStorm integrated (in the Asus A7N8X Dlx). I have a SB Live! somewhere, but I prefer SoundStorm. I can't hear much difference between them, but SoundStrom has 5.1.

I use a Creative Audigy 2 sound card and it's great. I also have a set of Altec Lansing 5.1 speakers hooked up to it and the sound is even better.

I have always used my good old onboard sound. It just about allows me to play the odd mp3.

I use the onboard sound on me current PC and have done on my previous PC. Not much difference in sound quality tbh, it was free with the mobo so saved me a few quid on a PCI seperate card, and even has optical out
