In Home Sound System Based on MP3/MIDI

I am currently comtemplating putting a package together to sell to home builders based on music downloaded from the INET. I am not familiar with all the current gadetry so have a steep learning curve ahead of me.

Need a base line to start from n regards to wiring standards, interface standards, sound cards, best/worst case scenarios, etc.

I am fluent on LAN/WANs from past experience in data networking field as well as wiring standards for Local area and wide area networks. Currently unemployed and trying to get into the home networking business to fill the gap so to speak while looking for full time employment. Any and all help welcome.

Thanks in advance.
Charlie

I know that there are a bunch of products that simply plug into your home network via RJ45 jack and search every computer for MP3's. Kenwood has a new receiver which is compatable with homePNA networks .... not really sure how well it works.

Take a look around at sites with information about this years CES show. I bet there were lots companies showing off new products that would be of interest to you. Check out techtv.com and see if you can come up with anything.

Good luck,
