Newbies Having Sound Problems
Ok a friend of mine has a computer, and her sound wont play at all. It was playing fine yesterday and now she's getting nothing. I had her test it by trying to play a song on her computer and she got the "audio hardware is not found or hardware is not working properly message." So, I had her scan her computer through a program that gives you the specs on your hardware and everything so I could see if she needed new sound drivers or anything. But accordin to the results I dont see any kinda sound card at all in the computer..is it on board? How can i help her fix this? Thanks! Here's a link to her results page.

first off welcome to PCTT!
I would go into the device manager for the computer found when you right click on the my computer icon and then select device manager. Look under devices for anything for sound if there is a problem it should have a yellow ! by it. You can always try to fix the problem here that it was i typically do! |

Is that an HP?
I seem to remember a few that had all-in-one modem/sound cards at my old job (Wake up Cirga!!). If that's the case, you can get the model # and find out the specs on their site. You should be able to D/L the driver. edit/ NM. That was just the monitor.

I will once again recommend running ~Everest Home~ to detect your hardware. Then clicking on Computer->General and looking for Multimedia->Audio Adapter should show you something as a brand. And it usually even contains link to the vendor site for driver downloads. Try it and tell us what happens
Good luck |

as far as i know she didnt install anything new at all. the only way she even noticed the sounds were missing is because she went to try and listen to me over my microphone the one night on yahoo messanger and she couldn't hear me..then she tried playing a cd on her computer and she still wasn't gettin any audio. we checked the volume sliders and everything before we posted here so I know all of that's right

I agree with technobeast it sound like a hardware/driver problem If the machine doesn’t have a sound card then it is a driver for the motherboard and that will give errors in the device manager,If it does have a soundcard than it the sound card driver--Note if it does
have a sound card you might remove and replace it to reseat it I seen this to solve problems. Good Luck
