Roadblock
None for me!

I have been exposed to a couple, but never infected. AVG takes care of all my anti virus needs, and it is free!

napro, without an anti-virus program, I can assure you that you are pushing your luck. Just too many ways and too many new viruses around to not have a anti-virus program installed.

I've had a few e-mail viruses sent to me, picked up a few in downloads, but never got infected from any of those. I scan EVERYTHING, I don't care what it is. I use Trend Micros anti-virus software that comes with Fix-It Utilities. Very good and they update the virus pattern every one or two weeks.

Ohhh, almost forgot, I did pick up a boot sector virus about 5 years ago from a floppy disk. No real damage, just scrambled my Bios settings up.

Same response as roadblock - all viruses have been stopped before i could be infected (that i'm aware of, that is).

You forgot two options:

"No and I don't use antivirus software"
"Yes and I don't use antivirus software"

My answer is the first of the two.

I don't like having some annoying app trying to rummage through my system and I haven't had any problems with my current install of Win2K since I installed it about a year and a half ago.

Vlet, I don't see why you would run that risk. Having an antivirus program won't harm your computer. You're just going to wind up regretting it once you finally get a virus. Don't put yourself through that

Once, Back in 1993, on my 486 DX2-66!!!!
It was called the 'stoned virus'and it wasnt really bad, I stoped it before it activated itself on 4-20, That stands for april 20, and 420 is the codet hat the police use for weed infractions up here in Canada...

i'v had norton for awhile now any have never been infected while it was installed. Just yesturday i got downloader.BO trojen in my email, i am very glad i have NAV, also it said that the virus definisions prior to 11/12 would not have protected me aginst the virus, so i am also glad for the auto update I would forget to update them from time to time.

After I got Norton, every virus has been stopped. When I got my first computer, my friends told me dont use a antivirus, it slows you down too much. Well I am here to tell you a slower comp is better than no comp. PS learning to wipe your drive with just 2 weeks computer knowledge is a barrel of fun. Not. This was learned the hard way, as I had to wipe it again as it needed a overlay to see the hard drive. also i use on line scans, just incase, and I have found a trojen. None of them are perfect. All the best.

i use nav and avg ive had alerts for a few viruses but havent been
infected yet, norton or avg have always picked them up,the same with trojans,i did once have the sub7 trojan on board but that was after messing around with it and not realising then that when you open up the sub7 package you put both client and server on your machine but you live and learn as they say

Access Denied
Last week in a file, I was infected with an OPA variant. The way I got it was pure luck or misfortune depending how you look at it. I have norton set to do auto-update. But thats usually on Weds because that is when symantec releases thier new updates. Yes I know they have inteligent updater, but thats not related.

Any way, It was between virus definition updates, well I do a manual update and BADABOOOMSKY..There it is.
My system was running fine, no problems, no warnings. But there it was..No denying whats right in front of my face..

This thing imbedded itself to run as a process upon bootup. Had to delete the string, stop the process and then I could delete the file..

Mean little booger..NO CHANCE AGAINST ME THOUGH>>but Im not ever too worried about viruses..The most I go without checking my system is a day or so..I leave my system running so I just schedule a scan while im sleeping..can never be to careful..

I do ALOT of downloading. Dont anyone forget about Nimbda. Its variant could infect you while just visiting a site. Sure today there is a patch, but how long til another vulnerability where just surfing puts you at risk:computer:
