No more ICQ for me

After completely redoing my system, I can't seem to get ICQ to run correctly. I even downloaded and installed the newest version, but still wouldn't run. So, ICQ is gone!! I didn't really like it that much anyway.

Now, I can only be contacted via:
AIM - JRW 910
.Net messenger (MSN) - JRWappel
and of couse at the PCTechtalk chat room !!!

Wonder if I'll miss the 800 porn icq messages that I get when I wake up every morning.

Hmm, I use also Systemworks, WinXP and ICQ and no problems for me here... Maybe because I'm on Pro and no AIM...

Yeah, I don't know. I had AIM and ICQ working just fine together on XP home, but it started giving me problems after installing Norton Systemworks. So I downloaded the newest version and did a fresh install ... and nothing.

I must say that I like MSN (windows) messenger. I had a hotmail account and use the same login for the messenger. Everyone should try it... much better than ICQ.

I'm sorry... what is it that Norton does to block icq? I've had not problems...

i used icq way back for it's email alerts and headers. whn better options came along, i dumped icq and don't miss the pervs or the crap it's prog install leaves behind.

A good idea would be to check out Trillian. If you are not familiar with the appplication it combines many of the popular messengers such as MSN, AIM, ICQ and Yahoo into one messenger. The GUI is customizeable and once you get the hang of it you will find that it has many useful options. This software also avoids you from dealing with all the banner and crapware that often comes bundled within the messenger. All the best

Yeah Trillian is great but I dumped it when 2.0 came out. Now I just use it for AIM. You ppl should get Gaim, open source multi-client. It could pretty much all of the chat protocols. Enjoy.

Gaim

Oh if ure on windows download the instal with GTK, its gnome interface only for running gaim.
