For a simple firewall that uses very little resources try Kerio personal firewall http://www.kerio.com/ it's free and has the smallest footprint and uses the least resources of any I have tried.
Tiny personal firewall is now Kerio btw.

I use Sygate pro 5.0. Easy to set up, and works well, never any problems, even with xp. Here is a link for a way to set it up if youhave never used it before. The walk through is for 4.0, but it still gets one through the set up process:

i use sygate pf5.
Great protection with options security like enable intrusion scan/port scan/anti ip spoofing/os fingerprint masquerading/etc etc. The good is the function backtrace with whois integrated...its perfect ,exemple,in a p2p to know at once the ip of ur user in upload... the interface is easy n with a schedule like advanced rules that permit to block ip address,range,etc... SYGATE PF5 RULES!!!! |

so sygate intergrates whois with it. nice to know that.
maybe i shall try it. visually network tools are available as well. however, i know that certain p2p programs, do have the feature of *blocking* known ip addresses, that track you online, from the likes of riaa/mpaa. heres a link of p2p enemies. hosted by someone i know. i am sure he wont mind me linking from here. thanks method* http://xs.fasthost.tv/m4d.htm

hmm...never noticed this thread before...anyway I use Norton FW 2002. I never had problems and it does what it says it does. Norton FW works great with my edexter and both has saved me from spyware, ads and microsoft. Although I rather have Sygate personal FW pro, but i already spent 50 bucks, and will not spend another 40 for another FW... :p

Well,
yep it exists also -stealth mode browsing ,but if anyone check all these options for security there is the risk to not do work nothing...i enable only driver level protection usually... Sygate pro ,base level, must be free ,but if u find the serial,lol....its best... however sygate is very good on win nt,xp in platform win 9x,like 98 n win Me Tiny pf2 is very good ..i have tried also tiny pf3 but yet his stuff is beta... n it leads to crash the system.. Norton firewall n all utilities norton are much heavy for the machine... Bad stuff for me...:p :p :p |

Without being a brat, I have used...
1) free ZA 2) Sygate 5.0 (*cough*serial*cough*) 3)Norton 4)Mcafee 5)Keiro The one I use now is the free ZA. It seems to do the job and it killed the sygate 5.0 somehow... The mcafee was my favorite but after 30 days it wasnt my favorite. you gut the idea? I hated the keiro. It wouldnt run right by itself, it wouldnt run right with the sygate, or the norton...If you like keiro and it works for you then good!! But for me I tred using it sooooo any different times and ways and I think either I suck or Keiro hates me, probably noth...
