Well this reminds me something that happened several months ago wit one brand new notebook

After i had this message I rebooted from the install CD and first checked if the file is there at all and i found out that it is a folder and it is there but it was unreadable. I checked on another PC and it was a folder with some system files inside!

I tryed some options but nothing worked - it was a quite nervous sleeples night and at the end I decided that I will make a new instalation on the second partition to copy the folder from there and when starting the install it scanned the disk for errors and found some and after the install was ready the old win was working again ! Unfortunately for 2 days only and crashed again but this time it didnt work anyhow but reinstall so hope you will find a way to fix it

Not what I meant either...I asked/showed you a pic from the "sysdm" file
You said the error was at: system32\system....sonce the both are in the same folder & thought if you spellchecked your post, it would have changed it from :
"sysdm" to "system"

i can't even get to that point though.

the XP logo just sits there with the progress bar moving back and forth!

not to happy right now. I might install windows on a new disk and then place this one as a slave and then pull the data off if that will work.

I will let you know.

I know you can't Boot up...I was thiking that if it was this file, I could email the real one & you might be able to install it from a Floppy in DOS.

What are YOU doing with Elektra's computer?

Hey Berksie, can you at least boot into safe mode there? (keep pressing F8 while it's booting). Be careful if you reinstall another OS and then slave this one for the files. Sometimes this will restructure the boot process thinking you have multiple OS's installed and mess with the pagefile. Just a heads up

I have the same problem...any help?

I got a similar problem with Win 2000. I can boot into safe mode but not a normal boot. Freezes on the splash screen with the progress bar almost 75% thru. Any help?

Boot in safe mode and disable any startup program that might cause this sort of crash. Then see if you can boot correctly. If you can, start enabling the apps one by one, and see which one causes the problem. Typically this might be a firewall, antivirus, or a videocard driver....

Good luck :-)
