    Question Which Antivirus ?

Today i uninstalled AVG by grisoft , i rebooted , i deleted keys in the registry.. i installed again it but it doesnt work correctly .. i have been unable to uninstall it again plus i didnt get the folder icons in start-program files...so i deleted manually all and i tried other stuff
Pc cillin was good but the g"i"n could be an obstacle to updates and i have seen this..Pandantivirus ..i wouldnt use it...
Norton is so full of heavy stuff that i throw up both to my ram....
or mcaffee all stuff for moneymakers
So i tried this but the setup doesnt work :

    http://www.avup.de/personal/en/avwinsfx.exe

Now im trying antivir ...on the same line of AVG :

    http://www.free-av.com/

in my opinion a good antivirus should be free , to work not in background , used to scan single files manually and get updates easily

    Show me your councils:o

Ok , disabling scheduler and active guard -Antivir seems good to scan single files and to get updates....
However it reports many alse alarms .

    --Who tried Kaspersky antivirus ?

I have re-installed AVG many times, you need the Password & a new setup for every install, or it will not install right.
If you didn't keep your Password, download the setup from the main site again & use a different email address..a real one...they will send you a new one. Than re-install. You can not use the same email address, you can download the setup, but they will not send you out a new Passsword.

    nod32:
its an evaluation (1 year) and probably it is a crap for xp coz it doesnt specify that it works sure with xp , it doesnt look right in my eyes

all those are evaluable versions...nothing to do
i remain with Antivir ..i have noticed that Antivir is powerful than AVG ... and that AVG

".......is one of the poorest performers of the AV world. That said I have not used this product and infact until very recently I assumed it was a good product just based on how often I see it recommend in this forum and others to newbies, but what I have read recently has changed my mind.
that as a defense recently but if you look the apps approved by ICSA, it is pretty much every AV app on the market. This similar to fact every motorcycle hemlet must receive certification from DOT but not helmets are equal....."

You posted the only bad post I read there...lol
AVG is fine for me, it has never let me down.
It may not run in the background, but if you scan your downloads, your safe.

Well ,after that i deleted the avg keys in the registry , i installed a new avg free setup ...
During installation i denied the resident shield , the control email , denied the restart ,asked at the end of the setup .
I got the icons in start-programs ... and to avoid the background process ( it was cause of blank screen temporary after the restart) i stopped this service in start-run : services.msc .
(btw, my o.s. is XP) .
So ,now, all well ... like in a fable , XD

    resuming :
Antivir seems nice but i found out that it has an update system very average(my cpu goes in overload)
Other antivirus or are evaluation products or are too much beta(like gladiator)
AVG free edition is still on the waves
