What kind of icons are they? Do they have specific pictures or words on them? Something to help describe what you see created might help clue in what program is causing the problem for you.
do you have any firewall software? It could be somethin via the net on your browser etc.. causing it. When are the icons created? Riht when you boot up? Or do you open something and then they appear?

Well the icon I get the most is "stop desktop icons from appearing" some are casino online those are the ones I get the most. I do have a liksys router with a hardware firewall in it. The icons usually appear when I go somewhere on the internet, when I open a web page nothing particular and it does not happen all the time, Just once or twice a day they appear. I really only notice it when I close the web pages after I am done surfing the net.

Sounds like you might have a Dialer Installed, but you say SpyBot hasn't found one.
Can you put up a Screenshot please............. You should also check to see that you have ActiveX Controls on 'Prompt'

I have now tried to disable the dialer on my pc and that did not work. I just did a search on dialers and came back with a couple disabled them all and nothing. Now that I have been looking closer at the troubles the icons only appear at night because when I get up in the morning to go to work they are there again. If any of you have any idea's on what might be wrong please send it over my way. If I can not get this solved I will just have to reformatt the PC. This is annoying to have those icons just appear. If I figure it out before formatting the PC I will post what I found.

I have heard that some of the "new generation" dialers are next to impossible to get rid of. I remember Kitty had a friend with one, but I don't remember what the outcome was. Maybe she will see this and reply.

I hope she will see this then. I will hate to have to formatt my PC again. It's not that it is hard but damn it takes so long and you always lose some programs that you did not think about backing up. Thanks for all of yall's help on this subject.

You may want to try installing a simple web proxy possibly? I use one called Proximitron. You can download it Here.
Perhaps if you have this filtering everything through your browser it can stop the icons from appearing. But yes.. soundslike something nasty got on your PC.

If I get the web address and use the loop back address 127.0.0.1 in a host file do you all think that could solve the problem? I dont think this will work but I had to ask. I want to try everything before formatting.
