When you download a file..do you click on 'Save' to save it to your hard drive or are you clicking 'Open'..this will do what your saying.

hmmm, That strange. I cant help you there but have you ever tried WinRar? Its better and faster than WinZip. If you are having problems with WinZip maybe you could use WinRar instead.----JMO

NP! I like the WinRar because when you tell it extract here, it eliminates the folder. It just takes it all out. Good luck with it.

This problem isn't with WinZip or WinRAR..it's with Windows...I don't think re-installing it will help...JMO

    Ok, I got it...:
Try this: in Folder Options (Windows Explorer/Tools or Control Panel or Tools/Folder Options) Click on the File Types tab, find the extension, say zip or rar, highlight it and Click Advanced and make sure that "confirm open after download" is checked.
