I used to live in Provo. Every person I've known who has lived in Utah has told similar anti-Utah jokes.
Like if you say that you lived in utah the standard response for anyone who has also lived there is "sorry." It is mostly jocular and inteneded in good spirit and not directed towards any specific people - except Orrin Hatch

I agree with you there too, LP. My post was carefully written to cause a fuss. I immediately set up an antagonist, and used contrasting words / statements to villify the viewpoint which opposed mine.

But while their outrageous statement is intended to cause fear (of having your computer 'blown up') among other things, mine is intended to turn that fear into anger. Not the namecalling flamethrowing agenda of rage kind of anger, but the kind of calm and rational anger that a person takes with them to the voter's booth. 'This is how your representatives want to repay you for voting for them' - That kind of thing.

I think it is fantastic that we can join together online to have these discussions. Further still that we can do so without attacking each other. I wouldn't change it for the world.

My brother lives in Utah right now - in 3 months he will be going to Chile on his mission. Apparently, Chile is one of the places that missionaries will get to do the most baptisms - usually somewhere around 150 as opposed to the average of 4.
