I have a program that searches all the Crack Sites for me..just like a P2P..I use that 1st...I trust it more. A good Popup Stopper will stop the porn pops..and set your Java Script to Ask..will stop anything from being downloaded...which some will try to do.

Google can "find" almost anything you ask it to, if ya know what to ask for. :wink3
I use either myIE2, or Opera which block pop-ups you don't want. I also use the HOSTS file that comes with SpyBot S&D and that takes care of most anything else. With my set up, Pop-ups and Porn Dialers are something I don't have to worry about.

There is an option in ZA to turn off the popup notification when it blocks something. Look for it, I think u will find it. I use Sygate now, so I can't remember exactly where that setting is. Some of the others can tell you I am sure.

My norton internet security stops all of the pop ups, and I have found that the sites that are now giving the message "you are using a pop up blocker. disable the popup blocker to view this page" dont seem to pick it up like with the popup blockers I have used in the past. I dont mind banners on web pages but the popups make me crazy. I was at one site and they had Gator, well it just so happened that it slipped through the norton(I fixed that real quick)and it popped up so that the yes button was right over the download button on the page. I almost DL gator. needless to say I dont DL anything from there now.

I use Guard-IE v2.3 (found on your fave p2p) with Symantic Firewall.
The both work really well.. my only complaint would be the Guard IC stops ALL popups, even legitimate ones which you click on, even though u can open a page by holding ctrl to bypass the block, it gets tiresom when your browsing a site which uses pop up windows. Symantic firewall is really good too, though it reports alot of incoming trojans, which are mostly false alarms. anyway thats my 2 cents/pennies worth. adz

If you use SpyBot Search and Destroy, it has it's own version of the "HOSTS" file you can install. That way, even if your blocker misses one, likely all you will then get is a blank page, since your altered HOSTS file keeps your PC from connecting back to the popup's IP. That is what I use, in addition to myIE2 and Opera browsers which blocks all popups except the ones that you specify to let in. Maybe, someday. Uncle Bill will finally get the message and add that feature to IE. On second thought, maybe not...... :wink3

If I had 98% of the market share in browsers and I had that with a 2 year old browser (less security fixes) then I too would sit on my ass.... LOL
I guess they're going to improve IE in Longhorn (at least I hope so) if not there's always good alternatives (although I personally haven't tried them... IE is so embbebed in XP that I dare not touch it...) Anyway any good personal firewall out there has the ability to block hosts (may be easier or harder to do that depending on the firewall) so a PF is all you really need, and ofcourse there's the safety issue too
