Moving Case Problems.
Hello,
I have decided to move a computer to a different case because the case was shabby, and i moved everything( Its and old PC 1998 Fujitsu Seimens AMD Athlon 1200 128mb SDRAM 40GB HD, Nvidia GFX Card crappy one) well i moved the case plugged everything in and i got a RED LIGHT on the motherboard and a beeeeeeeep......beeeeeeeeeep........beeeeeeeeep. I had this problem a while ago and my dad took it into PCWorld and they said it was due to dust, well i cleaned the mb and bits and got rid of all the dust but i was still getting the ugly red light. Anyone got any clues as to why this is happening? Thanks, JT

constant beeping indicates that the memory hasnt been detected on most bio's, so im guessing thats the problem, try moving your memory into slot 0 (nearest the cpu) if it isnt already there. if it is already there it may be a good idea remove and replace it several times in order to insure its properly connecting.

The beeps provide a warning
The beeps can be understood by getting the beep codes for the boards bios. As above genrally three beeps mean the ram, but as mother board beep codes can some times be diffrent with diffrent bios brands, i suggest u look up the beep codes for your bios Hope this helps Majestic |

Its ok ive fixed. The problem was the System must need the floppy plugged in for it to boot. It was an Error (40) for anyone that gets this type of problem. The beeping was bu-d-beep or similar
.I cant figure out what the make of the motherboard is. I think its Asus but im not sure. Its got this mark on. M7 VKA. Its a Mini Motherboard. Any clues? Ill try and get a pic. I like to know these sort of things.

out of curiosity, what slot is the ram currently plugged into? the one nearest to or furthest away from the cpu?

It always used to be in the slot nearest the CPU. I tried both positions and i presume it only works in the Slot 0.

Im not to sure if this is the right place to put this message but im looking to upgrade the RAM on this board. Its currently running 128MB SDRAM PC133. I only need a cheap ram as my dad's a tight ass with money, heh. So i was looking around on ebuyer and aria and i found a 256MB SDRAM PC133 on ebuyer and i was wondering if you know if it would fit. Will all SDRAM work on all SDRAM systems? If you know what i mean.
