Unhappy pc is dead...i hope not

hi! i bought a supposedly new pc from a local shop, found it had a 5.5gig hd with bad sectors, it was a mess, nothing worked. judgments in court against this person never has resulted in anything happening so i resolved myself to putting money into it and sucking up the loss. i was told that the cpu was brand new, (i dont think so cos its a duron) i kept the cpu, i got a MSI km2m mobo new, a new 80gig hd, new cdrom drive, new floppy, and a new power supply. the cpu i kept from the original pc is a Amd Duron 1.4 . i put the pc together and the only problem i had was that the front end connectors are labled way differently than the mobo. mobo says " hdd led pwsw and rst" the connectors are labled " m/b sw reset sw hddled power led and a negative sign in a circle." the book for the mobo shows that the power led has two holes in it, but the power led wire i have only has one hole in it. i did trial and error for about an hour turning them sideways etc til i finally got power. i was thrilled. my pc worked FINE for three weeks. i had it networked and everything. 3nights ago i was on it and it was working great. the next morning i turned it on and nothing. no power, not even to the fans. i put the power supply box in from my other pc and it still didnt work. i noticed that those front panel connectors were off....now, i cant remember how i had them in and every attempt still leads to no power. my question: how on earth do i connect those wires? ( the case is generic) and my other question is: could i have messed the mobo up if i had them connected wrong in the first place???
thanks to anyone who can help

Hi simzgurl and welcome to the forums....
First.....leave the other wires and get the pwsw figured out..... no led is going to light if there's no power... See the MB and the PWSW wires..... tell us what you have and did you connect these correct? If the answer is yes..try to fire it without plugging the others.... Lets first get your PC ON and then we'll light the LEDs

OK so how do these two (pwsw and m/b sw) go together? Try connecting only them....and see if it works.
And no worries - we'll get this working (I hope )

If it suits you, OK...but the MB wires are not that difficult thing to get a whole pic gallery for them... you just need to do things one at a time and see where it goes wrong.

MB is what you call mobo - or motherboard abbreviation. So did you take my advice to get all wires out and try to connect only these two (The Power Switch)? Another question - did you connect the PSU plug to the mobo (or MB )? Try unplugging it and plugging it back before connecting the wires.
