Greetings BADRAD68 and welcome to the board

Now when you say the system boots and sees everything but the CD-Rom/CDRW drivers are you talking about the Windows OS recognizing them?

Or are they not found in the post when the HDD's are detected?

Can you see them listed in the system bios?

That's where I'd start. Also, check the jumper settings on these drives if they are on the same IDE cable (I'm assuming they're IDE drives). If they share the same ribbon cable then one needs to be set as the master (usually the one connected to the middle connection) and one as the slave.

Hope this helps

Ok, first off, ALL CAPS aren't really necessary and are considered "shouting" in internet lingo

Secondly, We'll need to know the physical setup here to move forward on this. Exacly what is plugged into where on your IDE ribbon cables there?

Here's an example:
IDE1=Main Hard Drive and Secondary Hard Drive.
IDE2=CD-Rom and CDRW burner.

The first step here is going to get these drives recognized in the post boot.

Ya he's definately caught in the loop, but I've haven't come across anything that can get him out of it.

As far as the CD-Rom configuration, I'd try to just get one recognized for now. To do that you'll need to disconnect the drive on the end of the ribbon and see if the middle one gets recognized after that. If not, check the jumper settings on the back of the drive. you'll see a set of pins (usually next to the power connection) and a plastic jumper. there should be a diagram on the case of the drive that explains the different setting configurations. If you still can't find this setting, list the type of cd-rom and I'll try and track down a diagram.

Question

It's just a generic 52x cd rom.It shows the hard drive in the post but does not show either cd or cdrw.When i hook the old motherboard up ...no problems. Shows all 3.. hard drive, cd and cdrw.This is my second motherboard from the company I've tried every bios setting,jumper and even changed the cd rom.I did not try"brand new cables".I know i'am overlooking somthing.

could be that master/slave assignments are differently done on this motherboard, if the drive on the end of the cable is a slave, change it to master and the drive on the mid point of the cable to slave (or the other way round - depending on how they are currently set)
