ive answered yes but i do it anyway, which to me seems the only
logical answer for me personaly to give,we all know its wrong(or if youve got half a brain you should) by file trading i take it you mean all file types not just mp3(which we know is wrong also). but i sure as hell aint gonna pay for something that i can get for nowt be it music/software/games or whatever else and im pretty sure that applies to 99.9% of everyone who uses file trading services be that p2p/ftp/warezsites/newsgroups and whatever other means you care to mention. i suppose we will get all the old lame excuses trotted out here: im not paying xxx amount of money when i only like 2 tracks if i like the album i will go out and buy it............. yea right im a student i cant afford expensive software.......... well get a job and leave the alone theni only leave the mp3s on my pc for 24 hours............... liarand its a political statement................. oh come on ![]() |

Only if the artist doesnt want their work traded, and there are plenty of smaller bands out there that want you to trade thier work, as its a cheap way of getting your name out there in the public eye.

No, sharing copyrighted material isn't wrong. I can't afford to buy this stuff. I'm a poor student.

In my case, I usually buy the cd's I like (after I downloaded and listening to them). So in my case I think p2p contributed to my increased spending on music.
As for computer games and movies... hell If I couldn't get them I certainly wouldn't buy them either (well not so many at least) Then again the money I make is the allowance my parents give me... (can't wait to get into the working world... lol) |

Funny how the RIAA makes believe that the Canadian media tax (or whatever it's called) doesn't even exist. I could get behind a similar solution here in the 'States.
As long as I can download to my heart's content, I feel the artists (songwriters, producers, musicians) are due compensation for their work. $1.00 per download is simply too expensive considering the middlemen get 99% of it. At that rate, I owe about $15,000. For some music? Rediculous! Until they're reasonably priced, screw them. $80 for a concert ticket or $20 for a cd is as immoral as anything I'm doing. |

So is file sharing wrong? Hmm, well I think as long as you just p2p share and don't burn and sell then what the hell. But come on there are crazier things out there in the world for people to worry about than if they are going to get in trouble if they download. Download people, DOWNLOAD lots and lots of songs till your heart is content!!!

Yeah it's wrong but isn't it also wrong for the RIAA to put it out there for us to download and then sue us for doing it?

Sharing copyrighted material without the rights holder permission is illegal and that usually also means wrong. But I like to try before buy, so this was my answer. I download a few songs, if I like them, I buy the CD not only to have the package and everything, but to support the artist. If I like one or two songs, forget it, not worth buying the whole CD or getting two singles with one song for 5 € each!

im much in agrement with igalan on this one, its nice to try b4 you buy, but cd albums these days are getting less and less value for money, instead of a dozen new tracks on an album you get at most eight, and four remixes. does anyone know how to write a dozen tracks an album any more? cause when they dont it leaves you feeling very short changed. |
