I tried the better audio .dll, the sound was horrible, maybe better than the original codec, but so much worse than Dee 1.2 DSP.

WMP is actually a very stable and robust player, but I don't think its that great for audio, its real strong point is video.

QCD is one of the greatest pieces of software I've ever seen. Light, stable, uses great skins, uses own plugins+Winamp plugins. The advertisement for it is 'You can make it as complicated and full of features as you want' Or said the opposite 'You can make it as simple as you want' . QCD rockz IMHO.

Winamp, very low sys resource usage. QCD comes in second.

You can add me to the small MusicMatch bunch. Been using MM since it came out and don't think I would use any other player. I have used alot of other different players including Winamp, but found MM to be out on top.

just my 2 cents worth

Winamp....

I could even be happy with one of the 0. versions of it, except they don't remember your playlist when you close it..lol.

It plays music, and that's all I need it to do.

RipperRoo is on a distinguished road
for me it has to be winamp, not the overfeature monster that is wimanp 3, but a classicly skinned winamp 2.91.
its the only option for the internet dj

(insert plug for pctechtalk radio here)

Well, i guess i'll be the different guy. Lately i have been using foobar2000 all the time. Its just simply one of the best players ive ever used. Very plain and simple. Very light on resources and has excellent sound quality, even better than winamp imo. Winamp 2.91 is still my old standby, but foobar2000 has definitely got plenty goin for it.

I really, really like QCD but use Foobar when we have a party so the levels of all the songs are all the same and we don't trash the stereo amp.
Both are fantastic and preferable to WMP and WinAmp imo.
