Why would you take the fan+heatsink off a processor, other than to replace it ? I mean why running your pc without it,if it's the noise, put in a silent one, even intels run warm/hot,by cooling them, you extend their lifetime,so i have been told. |

Intel is so much better than AMD.

Everyone has their own preference on what cpu they like the best, I personally like AMD because of what you get for the money.

My take on this is Intel. Not that I am a fanboy, I have a AMD and Intell runing side by side. My Intel has less cooling, runs at a lower temp, and if the fan on the heatsink goes out, I wont be the least bit worried. AMD's are cost effective yes... but in the end you will close the distance in the price of fans and power consumption to run the fans which makes cost not that much of a factor. Aside from Cost, I dont see that AMD has any more advantages over Intel, Intels ability to run at cooler temps more efficently to me is worth the added cost. AMD makes a great chip, but for the extra 30-40 bucks I'll piss it away on Intel

What you people said about the trade off between price and cooling you're damn right
'I have YET to get my custom pc built yet. But who cares at least i picked the case i wanted so the heat for my AMD wont be much of a problem. The case is the Koolance PC2-C Now if only i can find all copper cooling parts...partially copper is jsut as good for me Dont EVER Piss Me Off!! ![]() |

Intel
I have always used Intel. I have never tried the AMD's. I have thought about trying out AMD's in the past month or so. I am not sure everyone is eaither for or against one or the two. Every review that I see is biased. They love one and hate the other. I will have to try one and get an unbiased review. The only draw back that I see about AMD is overheating, and intel is the price I dont see much different in the performance.

depends on how you use your pc...
for day to day net surfing, email, word processing and the like, amd would be your best bet... if you're doing serious multimedia, you spend much of your time with programs like premiere, vegas video, photoshop, sonar, etc... go for intel -- y |

I have used Intel and AMD and never had a problem with either. I have used Intel more. so I stick with it. If it works well with what I am doing, no reason to change. The problem I see is AMD is starting to lose the fight with Intel. If AMD wants to get ahead of the game they better get with the program.

I also hear that AMD is the faster out of the two for gamers. I do alot of gaming and video editing though I do more gaming than editing.
