You give your free CPU cycles for cancer research project. For example when you type in a word processing program your CPU is used at no more than 2-3% activity. And this progyy uses what is left - 90-95%. But when you play game for example when you need all the CPU power it simply reduces its own activity so it won't even be noticed running. Simple and effective way to contribute to Cancer research.

Yes i know that it works like that, i just wanted to ask exactly what it means because i crunch UD only as a screensaver.

Since it's summer and it's hot i prefer not risking my CPU at 100% all the time so i make it run only as screensaver

Can you please recommend me a program to check CPU temp?

Another think, do you know the standard temperature for an Intel Pentium 4 1.6ghz processor?
Thanks

I use MotherBoard Monitor and never made more than 53 Degrees Celsius. But don't trust these proggies too much. The only way to be sure is BIOS. See your temp without and with 100% activity made by UD. I think <=55 deg celsius is just perfect even in hot as hell days.

hey tamaraisk,

Motherboard monitor is a good proggy for checking temps and it runs in the taskbar if you want it to.

As for the cpu dedication on the stats, that is an approximate percentage that you have you processor running the program, say you run the UD 12 hours a day, well your cpu dedication should be around 50% if it is over 100% it means you have more then one cpu running.

Also.. as for an Intel Pentium 4 temperature.. you dont even need to worry about that. If you had an AMD Then you would need to watch it.. but with pentium you are safe. I dont think I have ever spent any money on a special heatsink / fan for my Pentium chips.. and htey always run like champs.

My AMD Duron 750 MHz never had any special needs from more coolers too. Works great and as I mentioned the utmost temperature I get from it is 53 Degress Celsius.

Thanks for suggestions

It's just that when i make it run all the time(not in screensaver mode) only the fans are practically on all the time.

Well i put screensaver to 1 min so it is practically working all the time when i am not using the computer.

Also the summer here is hot, can reach temp up to 40 C in the peak of summer.

Cool
