What do you think about this setup?
OK, I have been out of the PC scene for awhile, the last computer I had built for me seven years ago, is the one I am currently using.
I will have to have someone build the system I want, because I have never built a system myself and with the newest technology, now would be a very BAD time to try....especially since I am getting parts like a top of the line Intel chip and over $2,000.00 video card! So what I want to know form the people that have been building awhile, is if the place I picked to build my computer has somewhat reasonable prices and if anyone has used them or knows their build reputation. Like I said, I have never built a computer system, but I SURELY do not want to experiment on one like this! So,someone will have to build it for me. This IS an expensive system I know.......but to me, it is my dream system. It should fly! I am getting a lot of money on a land deal and wanted a system that would last for a long while. I figure this may fit the bill. I know there is always going to be something faster the computer manufacturers are working on, but I also know that if you get a decent system, it should last you awhile...at least it has worked for me all these years. i would say your paying a little over the odds for the optical drives as you can buy a retail boxed LiteOn 20X SATA DVD±RW/RAM With Beige, Black & Silver Bezel + Nero for around $45 (£22.48 inc tax on ebuyer uk) but appart from that the prices look about right, i would ask them to throw in Power DVD & Nero 8 it were me buying it.

For someone like me that is not good at putting even a regular computer system together, it is nice to have a place to go that does it for you with decent prices. When I get the money for my land and purchase it, I will be sure to post back about how it performs and the customer service they have, so others can make a decision about buying from them. |

Sounds like a great system, and if all the testing and warranty etc. is included then that is not a bad price. Just wondering though, do you know if they test your new monitor for dead pixels? And if they do, will they replace the monitor with one with NO dead-pixels at all? [that would be amazing! ]Would love to see a 3dmark06 benchmark and some other results. Post em when you can! |

Another thing....someone on another forum said that the Quadro video card I picked out was basically a CAD or workstation card. They suggested going with an 8800 Ultra for gaming. So I will probably do that. |

I've just read this, $8,049.00 for a PC with Windows XP?!?!?! Man, you have money to burn
For $2.000 you can get a PC that is almost as fast (let's say 10% slower or less) and still have $6.000 to burn in many, many other stuff  . |

Something like this is quite capable. Add another one in SLI for a killer setup. If you want very high resolutions, over 1600x1200, then the 8800 GTS with 512 MB will be more adequate, but I don't recommend getting the latest and greatest, it's always very expensive and performance versus cost don't scale equally by far!
