Motherboard compatability
Excuse my computer language because im a noob.
Im looking to buy a motherboard that is compatabile with pentium 4 and has a pci express 16x. I only want to replace my motherboard and video card. Do i have to make sure my HD and my drives support it or will all the motherboard support it. What about the cables and wires, do i have to look for a motherboard that supports the number of pins that is connected to the HD and drives or do all of them have the same number of pins. |

What are your current HDDs? PATA or SATA? If you have SATA drives then your migration will be easier. PATA is barely supported in latest mobos. For example: THIS Biostar mobo does not support Parallel ATA drives.
And one more thing you need to have in mind is the P4 socket... is it Socket 478 or Socket 775. I suspect it is Socket 478 if it's older. So you need to search for a socket 478 mobo. As you see there are many questions ![]() Good luck p.s. And Welcome to PCTechTalk |

When i checked samsung, it says this:

Compliant ATA Security Mode Feature Set ATA Host Protected Area Feature Set ATA Automatic Acoustic Management Feature Set ATA 48-bit Address Feature Set ATA Device Configuration Overlay Feature Set Multi-Burst On-The-Fly Error Correction NoiseGuard™ SilentSeek™ So is it PATA or SATA?
