This is my first custom computer.....

I did some shopping on newegg and this is basically what I came up with.

Mother Board
ASUS P5WD2 Premium Socket T (LGA 775) Intel 955X ATX Intel Motherboard - Retail

Processor
intel Pentium 4 550J Prescott 800MHz FSB 1MB L2 Cache LGA 775 Processor - OEM 3.4Ghz

Video Card
ATI All-In-Wonder X800 XT 100-714200 All-In-Wonder Radeon X800XT 256MB 256-bit GDDR3 VIVO AGP 4X/8X Video Card - Retail

Case
Lian Li PC-61 USB Black Aluminum ATX Mid Tower Computer Case - Retail

These are the main components. The rest isn't really a big deal. Probably a gig or 2 or ram, a good heat sink and fan, a dvd burner, 500w power supply, 300gb hard drive Do these go together well? Does anyone see a problem with this setup? Does anyone have any improvements? Thanks

that would depend on what the system is intended for, personaly if i was building a pc now i would go 64bit AMD.

if you fancy saving a few bucks get OEM instead of retail, unless you desperatly need the extra cds that come with the retail bundle theres no point spending the money.

if this is your first build stick with an OEM CPU, as they come with a heatsink and more backup if things should go pop, but if you have a little experience at builds shop around, there are some amazing heatsinks out there these days

I do plan on getting a really nice heat sink but I'll probably go with the retail CPU anyway. I just want a top of the line compute that will last me a while that I can play games, do some video editing, and 3d mechanical drawing. And as far as the 64bit processor I never really thought of going 64bit. Does anybody else have an opinion on whether or not to go 64bit. Or even if they prefer AMD to Intel. Thanks.
