I hear that. The only card I have ever purchased is a SB PCI 512.. and it has worked in every PC I have popped it into. Very nice card... and it only cost me 30 bucks. Was well worth the investment.
![]() And ouch.. sorry to hear about your misfortune But keep in mind cards that dont work make great art for hanging on the wall

Personally I would look at your speakers too... Whats to point having an audigy (excellent card and can be had for $60 - $70) when you have a pair of $25 speakers...
Good sound card and bad speakers = Bad sound Good speakers and bad sound card = Bad sound Good speaker and good sound card = Good sound ! |

I live headphones. I have dual surround sound, but even that doesnt sound as good as my trusty thick foamed Sony Headphones.
I hardly ever use my speakers,. This is just for me, cause Im all for "whatever floats you boat" kinda guy. There is nothng like having the sound right there, 3d sound, hearing footsteps or whatever sound like its right there next to you?... GOtta stop, Im getting scared

definitely soundblaster.. you wont get compatibility issues! and no matter what anyone says, PC speakers no matter how expensive are CRAP CRAP CRAP, even speakers made by names like yamaha use cheap materials so the best thing to do is get an amp and a pair of bookshelf speakers.. thatll sort our yer sounds good!
