unmountable_boot_drive

i booted off cd did a chkdsk /p and chkdsk /r. can not get past 50% on either scan.

i type in fixboot, it goes through then exit. reboot, same problem.

i can not load in either safe or normal

some one please help

my customer has a 50 page thesis on the hard drive unsaved

download a knoppix CD and boot the machine with it, mount the ntfs drive, try to save whatever you can/want to save then reinstall the whole thing.

OK WELL I HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM WITH THIS UNMOUNTABLE_BOOT_DRIVE but when i got my Dell Demension E510 they didnt send an XP cd with it so i cant boot from the CD and i cant get help from Dell because my warranty is up so if anyone could help that would be nice

You should do as greff recommended. You can find knoppix live cd at the following link http://www.knoppix.org/ hope it helps. If you still have a issue with it after you have backed up everything and reformated then come back and im sure someone can move on to another step.
