Angry hard drive wont install

XP Pro sp2

p4 2.8
1gig ram
this is my mboard

160gig+80gig primary

lg dvd rom + pioneer ao6 secondary

i brought a sata drive wd 80 gig it will not regonize the drive
i have set enhaned mode in bios still no go

plz help

also the drivers arent on the mobo cd either

deoes anyone know where i can download them from?

you should be able to get the drivers for a hard drive from the manufacturers webpage!

what kind of driver are you trying to install?!? it's a harddisk right? Or do you want to use it in a RAID config?

sata needs to be configured with raid...even if you only have one drive...

also with some asus boards it does not like booting from an sata with ide attached there may possibly be a bios update for this im not sure but this was certainly the case about a year ago.

hmmm... I installed windows 2K on a Nforce 3 SATA disk without any extra drivers... worked out of the box, so I left the drivers in the box.

Maybe win2k is too old? I noticed that even dos 6.22 could access the SATA disk...

so its the wrong on

that is without doubt drivers

Do you have your motherboard driver disk? It will most likely be a driver for the controller on there.

Looking at ur board / drivers there have been ALOT of bios updates - if you havnt already you mite wanna try the latest one of those. Also there doesnt appear to be a separate driver for the SATA so look in the chipset driver - make sure u have the latest and see if that fixes it for you.
