some software can't install?

Hi,there
My OS is Windows XP SP2 English version.
Recently,I have the problem,When I install the .MSI files,It hints me the Windows Installer can't setup. BTW,I set it autostart.
And some of .EXE files, it pops up the PRC server is unavailable.So the software can't install normally.
Somebody tell me why and show me how to

hmmm, sounds like some service has stopped or is suddenly not started any more. Can it be RPC server perhaps? Check your services in Configuration Panel | Administrative Tools. Check if the RPC service is running, and whether your firewall isn't blocking them.
