Anti-Virus program for WinXP

Hello:

I am just curious about peoples input for a bootable antivirus cd. I have been looking at Linux-Defender (a form of Knoppix, I think) to boot off and run a scan for WindowsXP. It is able to load drivers (NTFS) to scan the file system, read and write. The scanner is the slowest I have ever used. The only problem is I cannot figure out how to update it. I have also heard about ClamAV. I have also heard about Bart's PE Builder. It seems you need to create the bootable cd from a Windows 2000 or XP machine. It seems the most progress that is being done is coming from the Linux community. Forgive me if my terminology is not the best, I am not a programmer. Has anyone come accross a program to accomplish a system scan for WindowsXP? Any input would be appreciated.

Thanks!
