Learnin' The Way of XP

Well its finally happened. I'm actually trying to useXP. *cough*Pro*cough*

I need some tutorials or whatever for XP retards. Oh and figuring out what services to keep and remove would be nice.

So far I removed the windows messenger, got rid of activation completely, and turned off a few DLLs that interfere with "XPerience"

Anything else I gotta do?

If you want to know more about 'securing' your XP, i suggest reading this article by Dr Avery.

One of the better summaries for disabling services can be found here.

Sweet thx dudes. The sooner I get a hold over XP the sooner I can migrate. Not to mention remove that user-friendly crap.

The Black viper site helped me get this thing down to 17 processes running. It sure made a difference in my CPUs speed, as I only have an old 950 celleron.

Forget XP, try Linux. I used windows but I found out my IQ was over 90. Give it a try once you go to linux you will never want to use Windoze again.

Linux is great and Ive messed with my fair share of distributions. Sadly too many ppl use windoze, and I need to use XP. So far xp is clean...but you need paranoia for files u download. Trust me man Im itching for a linux n00b books so i can advance.

I nearly forgot. Rather than wading through all your services (which I reccommend anyway) XP Antispy has a neat little GUI that shuts off the more prominent and annoying XP features. Check it reviewed here and at its home page.

Good find!! This made my comp a little faster. And on dial-up, every little bit helps. And I already use Firefox!

Heh too late got you at xp-antispy already. I used a WPM crack too and services.msc. Right now xp is secure. And since IE is gone and firefox took its place...even better.
