Networking help
Ok, i have 4 computers on my network. All 4 have dynamic ip address. Let me explain.....i have a cable modem that only have one port on the back, I go from there to a linksys 8 port hub. the four computers are that connected to that. I also have a wireless router connected to that also. But when the four computers are connected to the linksys 8 port hub, only 2 of them can see each other on the network. I have tried every thing i can think of. I have ran the wizard setup ups on every computer. and made sure all had the same connection settings. Is there anything anyone knows that might be able to fix this problem. I am running win XP pro on 2 of the computers and XP home on the other 2.

can you figure out what the IP addresses of all four computers are?
you might need to open a command prompt (start | run | cmd) and type ipconfig /all on all the computers and paste the result in here.

here are the IP's (just remember these are dynamic ip's and wont be something like 192.168.1.#)
70.xxx.xxx.xxx 70.xxx.xxx.xxx 68.xxx.xxx.xxx 70.xxx.xxx.xxx The only way i can make these computers see each other on the lan, is to use the wireless router, which will assign IP's for all computers. The router will take a dynamic address, and give the computers one like this 192.168.1.#, but in order for me to host multiplayer games i need to have the dynamic address, i just like that better than doing all the port forwarding i would have to do. Plus my ISP blocks port 80, so i have to go in and change the port i host on. edit by greffov: obfuscated your IPs. |

the answer is simple: you can't.
In order to have a network, you need to have a subnet in common. With your IPs you never do, or never want, because the netblocks are not private. It's one or the other. Since you seem to have the ability to get real IPs from your ISP for all of your computers, I'd say benefit from that. However, the only sharing you will be able to do between them is through internet alike methods, such as chat.
