Internet versus downloads
I live in a shared house and we are all connected to the internet via a Linksys router. The problem is when other people are downloading files via p2p software the internet is exceptionally slow for everyone else, so much so some pages wont load. Is it possible to set the router to give preferential band width to the interent as opposed to downloads and how? If not can anyone suggest another way of getting round this problem? Thanks

the problem probably is the uploading of files. Because usually your upload speed is much lower than your download speed, you might easily don't notice that people downloading from you are actually taking all of your speed there. I think there is no easy solution to make fair share on the router, so the best you can do is instruct everyone to cap their upload to half of the speed, and then hope that not more than one person at the same time has someone downloading from them.
